This time of year when things are supposed to be wrapping up, they seem to be getting more and more busy instead :) I can hope that within 3 weeks, with the end of college classes, I can manage a little more breathing space at work and maybe that will translate to at home. The marking and exams are still going to be a little overwhelming, but it's relative right?
Thursday the 8th I did a good 6.4 km run. No memories of the run :) 38:42 was the time.
Friday the 9th was an active rest day with Hockey practice with Holly in the morning, a full day of work, and then hustling to a hockey game in Brookfield with Holly; league tournament time. Then from there I went to a hockey game in East Hants; an exhibition game for fun! And it was; we tied them 1-1. We were out super late that night with some friends and some drinks. VERY late.
But I made Saturday morning hockey. At 7 am. SO tired; but a long day was to be had. After that hockey scrimmage it was rush from game to game. The kids had hockey all over; from Debert to Brookfield. Kiddies came home with us from games and went back to games. Holly's tournament ended with them in the championship game; they had a drastic loss and got Silver medals :) Annika's tournament also ended with them having 2 losses and maybe a win? Or a tie? they were not in the last game.
Sunday morning (11th) I went for a long run which I underestimated a little. Time went ahead, so we lost an hour :( Rather than the 12 something km I had an even 13. It was ok. Weather was amazing.
That afternoon we had hockey and I felt like a slug LOL. Not a surprise. A loss.
Monday 12th I had a 7.1 km run. I dont remember where but the weather was good :) Which is why I had no rest day on Monday.
Someone suggested p90X again and so Tuesday rather than a run I took a rest day and did Day 1 of P90X. I have no idea how I can modify this program to fit the workouts and the runs in. A week later Ive only managed 3 workouts. Back and Chest done for an hour of Push ups and Pull ups.
It was March Break and starting Monday both kids had tournaments. I did not make any of Holly's games as I worked and we had Annika's tournament in town :( Holly had a good tournament with goals and an MVP puck. Annika's team had a seriously disappointing loss due to a bad call on a goal; their tournament ended on a great winning note to end their season.
Wednesday I had an 8.6 km Tempo run; one of those runs that just feels quite awesome; 54:54 was the time for it.
Thursday was another active rest day and I did P90X Day 3; Shoulders and Arms. I skipped Plyometrics in favor of Wednesday's Tempo Run. Afterwards we left town for an overnight hotel stay/getaway. THAT was stressful. lol Change is good but it was much harder than it used to be.
Friday morning after little sleep the night before I had a run on the Treadmill at the hotel. It was right next to our room! Which sounds nice but in fact when people get on it late at night, you can totally hear it. I warmed up with a walk, then ran a tempo run up to 6.5 miles/hour and back again at 1% incline for 38:10 minutes. It was dreadful lol quite dull and felt like 4 hours. But the run got dun.
We shopped and left town later the afternoon for home. We ate terribly while we were gone. AwfuL!
Saturday morning hockey was a little later than usual. The Sat morning group went out for brunch afterwards which was totally yummy.
Late in the afternoon/evening I had a run in sunlight; 6.5 km in 40:42. It was ok. Regular run.
Sunday I waffled and struggled and ended up splitting my planned long run. In the morning I went 8.6 km at a long run pace. After hockey which we lost again, I did my second half with Toni; 6.35 km again at a slower pace. Tired by this time. 55:07 and 50 minutes respectively.
Back to Monday and a rest day that I threw P90X Yoga (Day 4) onto in the evening. TIRED at that time but really need something. 90 minutes of stretching and straining LOL
Left my legs pretty tired on Tuesday for an easy run that was SUPER slow. Some trails and wind gave us 7.75 km in 51:30. Terrible!
I might need a rest day!

Ditto
Sums it up about right! More of the same. That again. Nothing new.
I woke up yesterday morning with the worst pain in my foot Ever! There is no bruise, it's not a strain or a cramp, it's aching along the outer side on the bone to the littlest toe. At first no pressure was ok but a day later it's not near as sore. I was able to skate last night without issue and it did not hurt on my run today, so Im not sure what that's about.Something to watch I suppose. Maybe a little soccer injury I dont remember getting? who know!
After Last Thursdays day of NO activity lol I managed to skip hockey practice in the morning (the kids are just so tired...) and had a nice 6.5 km run on Friday. in 42 minutes. I had to get all the way home before I could do it; I had lab and spent an extra 40 minutes with a student afterwards; then I had wrap up stuff and went home to get ready to run. Tough to get it all in I guess. But it was great temps for the run and I had JUST enough light to do it.
Friday night was a lot of relaxing as the weeknd to come was just crazy.
Saturday morning although it wasnt likely too bright, I went to my hockey scrimmage. There isnt' much hockey left. And I need mine. We had a lot of juggling to do, to get kids to all the things they had to do. There were 2 hockey games and it was 4H Rally day so our club had speeches on. Taylor also had a Tae Kwon Do tournament. Her first :):):)
So I took Annika to her hockey game; it was a pretty brutal game ;) and Scott took the other 2 to speeches; Taylor did hers before we got there so that Scott could take her to the tournament. After hockey Annika was rushed to speeches and I got there just in time to see Holly do hers; it was awesome. Then Annika went 2 people later and HERS was awesome as well. Grammy arrived just in time to miss Annika's speech and we left, had some lunch, and then Scott took Holly to her hockey game and we went to Taylor's tournament. She had done forms earlier, which I saw in a video, then we saw lots of forms and spars. T got 3rd in Forms and 4rth in Sparring; good for her first tournie and her spars were super close and could have gone either way.
we went back to home in pouring rain and nasty wind to spend the rest of the afternoon and evening relaxing and chatting with Grammy. No run. Crap weather anyway LOL.
I really think I need to move my long run to Saturday! Sunday was SO hard! lol
Despite my intention to get up super early and go, once we were up and it was cosy hanging out with the kids and stuff...no hockey...I just had trouble going and didnt get out for my long run until 1030. And I had a hockey game at 1 so I cut my long run short to a Normal run (10.4 km in 1:08:12 yoiks). It was a good run, had ups and downs but that route is hilly so I expect them. I was SO hungry when I got back, could barely resist just eating chunks of bread. LOL. Did some laundry and headed out to hockey which was our worst game of the year! We couldnt do anything right! Lost like 6-1 or something lol. I went home and did some housework and rested up for the rest of the night; meant to get some work done but had forgotten what I needed at work :( Annika played at supper time and they did much better than the day before :) I went straight from there to my soccer game which we won 1-0. Home to work for a few hours and into bed!
Monday morning I woke early with a terrible pain in my foot. The outside and bottom hurt like it was broken. actually woke me up. It was sore to walk on all day so I skipped a run; maybe I just overdid it on Sunday? Monday night I was able to skate with Annika's team for their last practice with no discomfort so it's all good.
Tuesday after lunch time I had a great run with Toni despite the chill and wind. We Did a loop around the Bible Hill 5 k route plus a little at the end for 5.8 km in 34 minutes.
Wednesday Was a long day at work but I was just dying for the end of the day for my warmish run. The weather was so nice! It did not disappoint.
I got home and I almost didnt go for a run. I was TIRED, the house was warm, supper was getting going, I was just not feeling it at all. But I dressed and went, knowing I would regret if I did not go. I had Intervals on the plan for week 3, Wednesday (Day 17). 6 X 400 m at 5 K pace. I warmed up on the way down my hill and then at 1.1 km in I started my first interval. I decided 5 K pace was about 5:30/km. I did that or better throughout most of my intervals; hard to be consistent when the first 2 were uphill then the rest were on rolling hills. Between I did 400 m at about 6:05/km. I finished up the 6th interval with 3 km left to go and since it was flat I threw in a 7th one for fun. Finished those last couple of miles uphill to home, completing 8.6 km in 52 minutes. Decent for a run I didnt even want to do! :)
Now sitting in on Thursday and wondering what today's amazing weather is going to bring?

Slightly Off Schedule
Another week has passed and I am sort of off my training schedule already, a week in. But not in a bad way! It's just been so incredibly mind-numbingly busy, and to ensure some sanity I have been running a lot. Like way more than my schedule says to! I realise you are not supposed to do that; the suggested runs on the schedule are actually less than I had been running distance-wise before, so why go back? If it says easy run, I do an easy run, but it says 3 miles and if I go 5, who am I hurting? not me!
Thursday last week was Week 1 day 5- Called for 3 mile easy run and strengthening. lol. I did a 4 mile easier run, and no strengthening that I can remember. Actually I barely remember last week! LOL My spring break is a haze of serious marking and head-banging frustration at the marking LOL. Wish I could blame the alcohol but there was precious little of that!
Friday called for a rest day so I did not run! I started off the day with some Ice Hockey Practice at 7 am, then after work the kids and I went home and took the dogs for a nice long walk. Long by kids standards; the dogs loved it much! We found a cool trail near home that we can walk the length of (no big swamps blocking the way); cannot believe it took this long to find somewhere to go! It came out of a weird road way down the main road so we had to walk back up the road to get home but it was ok, everyone had fun!
Im just guessing but I think our walk was about 4 km long and although slow it was really nice out and great to chat with the kids and watch the dogs :)
Saturday called for a 3 mile run, and I played hockey in the morning; Goalie rather than skater which was less demanding. Then for the rest of the day, there was no running. The rain in the morning was torrential and the winds continued to blow for many hours. Annika had a hockey game in Stellarton in the morning, so we went there before lunch. After her (awesome) game, we visited with Aunty Alison and the men in her house. We attended Knit Day at a local pub and had a rather decadent cheesecake treat. After knitting and chatting we headed home, taking Cousin Ben along with us. He and Taylor went to a party while the rest of us went to the Bearcats hockey game (won!) and then home and to bed; all very tired!
Sunday morning I tumbled out of bed good and early (7 am which was about an hour later than I wanted) and did 8.6 km in 55:30. This LONG RUN day called for 5 miles and this is the only run of the week that I actually did the distance it called for (more or less). Of course with my miles lately this is NOT a long run; it's a regular run. I will ramp it up this weekend...Maybe. lol It was a great morning for a run!
After running we took Annika to hockey in Debert and dropped off the chickens to Rebecca at her "soap factory". We had not seen her in ages and spent a bit longer there talking about her business and what her kids and family were up to.
In the afternoon I had a hockey game which we won and I got a goal :):):) then we rushed right over to Trenton for a game for Annika with her "girls"; the girls she is playing with in Female Festival got together to play the Trenton Girls Team. They did extremely well considering most had not played together and the other team was a "team" all year. We have hopes for the Festival being a huge success!
Sunday was exhausting. It lead to a Monday that was exhausting. I arrived at work as early as I could only to find that I could not get into my computer (forgot the new password) lol and therefore spent almost 40 minutes not getting stuff done. :):)
I was sitting there shaking my head trying to figure out where Spring Break went? Back at it for the next 6 weeks of classes and then 2 weeks of wrapping up exams and marking; then another month of prepping for next term I suppose. It's coming to a close really fast! LOL
Monday is usually the day I do not run but since there was nothing I had to get to in the evening, Toni and I went out after labs ended and got our run in! Monday was supposed to be a rest day but after skipping Saturday I figured I owed the miles. Saturday should have been 3 miles; I ran 5.5 miles on Monday night instead. With inflation it seemed fair LOL. 55 minutes.
Tuesday was a nice storm day; it did not snow as much as I hoped but it lasted awhile; the kids had no school and after lab I got in a run with Lavinia. Total was 8.15 km (50:10) in blustery snow and slush. LOVE winter. lol It was a super pretty run. I spent the rest of the afternoon at work prepping then I took Taylor and her friend to the mall. That was fun. Home again for the evening was the BEST lol.
Wednesday things were back to normal and after classes and labs I got a nice run in with Toni. Program called for 30 minutes tempo run; with the hills and wicked nasty wind all the way back, it was not so much a tempo but I increased effort as much as I could and tried to stay steady and did as much tempo as possible. Sometimes we were at 10 K pace. then the wind would knock us back and we would go by perceived effort lol. 7.35 km in 46:34. Thanks wind! after Holly's hockey practice then Basketball Year End play time, bed looked nice but there was a Science Fair project to be completed.
Which brings us around to Thursday of Week 2. Program calls for 3 miles easy, and strenthen. I would really like to do some yoga tonight. I also have a run planned, Annika has a Chiro appointment, and a hockey practice, and then maybe I can do some yoga after these lovely children go to bed :):):)
